I first noticed a swollen lymphnode about 5 months ago, since then I've got a few small ones down both sides of my neck, and recently some have come up near my collar bone, and a big one that is palpable but not visible also on the left near the collar bone. They are squishy and movable but the big one is more firm and very movable. Feel fine other then these lymph nodes, so that means I should be preparing myself for cancer, right? Doctor Thursday.
You should absolutely NOT be preparing yourself for cancer. There are many symptoms of lymphoma aside from the lymph node involvement...you should look it up to reassure yourself that you may be overreacting. Also, just know that if you keep touching your lymph nodes to check them, you are irritating them and they could feel noticeable simply because you are aggravating them.
Good for you for getting your appointment with the doctor, please let me know what they have to say on Thursday, okay?
Thanks, I have looked up symptoms over and over again, I don't have any, not even weight loss but I read lots of people have no symptoms I will let you know
It would be great if that was the case. They can't really tell just from feeling them if they are lymphoma or not though can they? I'm assuming I'll have blood taken and possibly be put on anti biotics as well to see if they will go down.
The fact that you have enlarged lymphnodes does not mean that you have lymphoma.
Getting yourself checked is the best thing you can do. You`re right about the doctor not being able to confirm the diagnosis until further testing. Blood tests cannot confirm lymphoma, only a biopsy can give you definate answers. The fact that you don`t have any other symptoms is a good thing but not everyone has symptoms. Some people have symptoms such as fever, night sweats, loss of weight, etc. and some people simply appear with an enlarged node. Rest assured that one can develop enlarged lymhnodes for various reasons not only cancer. Please stay positive and hope all goes well with your appointmet.
So just home, he took blood to test for glandular fever and to check blood count. I'm quite thin too so he was able to easily see if my spleen or liver were swollen and they were not and I have no swollen lymph nodes in my arm pits or groin. He thinks it is probably something viral so that's it for now :/
I hope so, thing is most of my family have lymph nodes that they can palpate in the groin and neck area that were unexplained and harmless so I hope this is the same.
I am sorry for what you are going through. I hope your Drs. appt. on Thu. was informational and I really hope that it did not show cancer. I just read this, as I was looking for help myself, and wanted to reply and wish you well.
I'm going to call the doctor tomorrow and see if my test results are back in, it's been a week tomorrow. If it's serious he normally will call himself, so I'm happy that I haven't heard from him yet. That being said, it could be just that he hasn't got the results back in yet.
Ok so called the doc and he had the results, which just the secetary gave me, liver function and blood count are normal and glandular fever test is negative. I asked what next and she said since they were normal that was it.
So basically
-Spleen and liver isn't swollen, liver function is normal
-Blood count doesn't signify anything wrong
-No B symptoms
Do you think I need to press for it to be taken further?
I am a 28 year old woman that has been very healthy my whole life. I noticed a lymphnode in the back of my head/ neck region every once in awhile causes pain in the tip of my spine to head. this january 2011 I went to the hospital for back/ neck pain
Diagnosed Illness(es)
They did a catscan with contrast and the results are word for word ill read them there are bilateral submandibular lymph nodes measuring up to 12mm x 5mm, there are bilateral posterior triangle lymphnodes measuring up to 16mm x 11mm which is 1.6cm x 1.1cm in the right parotid space. There are several small bilateral sub centimeters supraclavicular lymph nodes. now I just noticed a lump above my sciatic nerve in my lower back on right side, feels like a bone. I was wondering if anyone can give me
I have had some night sweats from time to time more like hot flashes no fever, itchy though once in awhile.just neck discomfort and lower back, and get out of breath easily just by putting my 3 year old son dressed.

I have an appointment with an ENT on the 16th of November, I am pretty confident that he's going to find nothing wrong as I made this thread over a month ago and nothing has changed since. Lymph nodes are there and size hasn't changed, and I still feel my usual self. Best to be safe anyway.
Just felt my 5 year old sister's neck, she has two swollen lymph nodes kind of under her jaw, where I have one and also a small squishy supraclavicular lymph node that I could feel. Like me except I just have a few more. What could cause both of us to have them? I'm hoping this is a sign I don't have cancer
