Worried about Lymphoma
While I haven't been diagnosed w/ Lymphoma, I felt like this was the best place to post my question due to the personal experience.
I have several enlarged inguinal lymph nodes (5 right now) that are roughly 1cm, and another that is roughly .5cm. I know one has been there unchanged for approx. 4 years, but the others have shown up periodically up to this point w/o pain or any known infection.. Some seem to be getting bigger as well. I have another appointment w/ a physician in a couple weeks, but was looking for some info in the mean time.
1.) Does anyone know if lymph nodes that are malignant still function normally? For example, I just recently had a small staph-type infection on my lower back that caused one of my already 1cm nodes to grow larger and become painful (like a normal reactive node is supposed to do). After the infection subsided, it returned to roughly 1 cm.
2.) Is there such thing as chronic node enlargement? I'd figure that acute enlargement is what I described above, reacting to an infection w/ rapid enlargement and pain. The reason I ask is because I have a sort of rash on my inner thigh that I've had for roughly 15 years. I always thought it was chafing or something (although my legs don't rub together), and thought nothing of it. It gets pretty irritated and the skin peels quite regularly (sorry for the image) and it seems to have damaged the skin permanently. Is something like this a possible cause of gradual node enlargement w/o pain?
Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to read and respond to my post. Any input is greatly appreciated.
