Can a lymph node stay swollen for 2 years and never decrease in size? I first noticed this pea size lump above my jawline just under my earlobe on the left side. I got a referal to see an ENT. After my examination he told me the lump might be a tumor on my parotid gland and ordered a CT with contrast. I had the CT last week and got the results today. The ENT did not see any tumors, just a swollen lymph node.
I am asking this question because everything I have read about lymph nodes say the swelling goes down or disappears and then may swell up again. My node has pretty much stayed the same size in the same spot for 2 years and has never once gone away. Now I do get infections pretty frequently (sinus infections mostly but I have had conjuctivitus, tonsilitus, and acne flareups) since noticing this lump. As a result, I have been on a lot of antibiotics, which I would think would help get rid of the swelling lymph node.
I just want to know what's going on! I don't meet with my ENT again until Feb. 20th.
