Any advice is welcomes, please help! - Lymph nodes

Hey there,

My saga continues!!!

Last week an ultrasound found several enlarged reactive lymph nodes in my groin on both sides, the largest one measured 14mm, they deemed them to have increased vascularity.

I've been generally feeling unwell, having night sweats, I'm itchy all over (sometimes it feels like something is crawling all over me), nausea, I've had recent weight loss (the silver lining of being unwell!), I have next to no appetite, I'm weak and have this feeling looming over me all time the time - the only way I can explain it is: that feeling you get before you get a cold sweat and it's always there, I have a constant wet cough that won't go away.

My doctor didn't know what to do because apparently all my bloods come back okay.

Next step he said was a CT Scan on my chest - I did this yesterday and they found my mediastinal lymph nodes are enlarged, that I have several benign lymph nodes in both axillary areas, a postural atelectasis in my left lung (I have no idea what this means!!) and a nodule in my right lower lobe that has the 'appearance" of calcified granuloma.

I'm getting a tad concerned now as I can feel my lymph nodes in my neck swelling now.... if anyone has any suggestions, that would be fantastic. My doctor has no idea at all what is wrong with me.

Am I in my right to request a biopsy to rule out more serious illnesses considering the above info?

Your advice and help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Ness

PS. I am concerned to a degree about the nodule in my lower right lobe due to the fact that calcified granuloma's can mirror malignancy and they are often misdiagnosed. That with my feeling of general feeling of being sick all the time and my lymph nodes all swelling... I'm scared at this stage.

I'm really surprised that your doctor has not suggested the biopsy. Personally I would insist on it considering the other symptoms that you are having. My understanding is that a biopsy is the key diagnostic tool in determining lymphomas.

My fiancee' had no symptoms other than the lump in his groin. All his blood work and xrays were fine. He starts his first Chemo tomorrow....stage 3 Hodgkins.

Hoping for the best for you.
