Small pea sized bump inside back of neck left side

My doctor thinks it's probably nothing but haven't done any tests or anything.

Basically in the back of my neck I've had a small bump for a while. I can feel it when I touch that area in my neck. It's also been there weeks if not months and I'm 24 now.

I'm just wondering, how do you know if it's serious and needs to be checked?

Btw I have costochondritis too so it's hard to say if I'm ever having other symptoms or not too. Costochondritis can give chest pains, tingling sometimes, etc.

Anyone here think getting an ultrasound or some kind of test should be a given with a small bump like this or should I really just wait to see if anything happens with it, like for example it growing or causing pain or something?

Thanks
