Hi,

I am very familiar with the message boards here as I have recently been diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer and have received so much useful information and direction from many posts and very knowledgeable members.

I am reaching out now because my 31 year old son, Robbie has just been diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease. It is a huge blow.

He just received word today and I am doing some research for him.

His only outward symptom is swollen lymph nodes on his neck. These were biopsied. No scans were performed as of yet but will be soon.

Is there any recent advances in Hodgkin's Disease treatment that might not be mainstream yet? Are there any Centers that specialize in Hodgkin's Disease that can provide superior treatment? Any essential books to read? Any general advice?

i had hodgkins in 1973 i was treated with chemo and radium .
i also had my spleen removed and i have had no problems since and i am mow 71

Hi Bobson,

Thank you so much for your post. Your timing was perfect. Yesterday my son found out that his recent PET scan revealed he has more involvement that the doctor originally thought and he needs to go in for a bone biopsy.

This really shattered him and he really fell apart. I showed him your post. I said to Robbie, "Look, this person has been clear for 39 years and is going strong".
This really helped him.

As it looks like you were 32 years old at the time and had a similar scenario as Robbie.

Today we go in for his staging. I hope the doctor can reassure him everything will be fine.
