Swollen glands in neck

2 months ago the right side of my neck was swollen (about 2 inches long) I went to the doctor had a blood test and was told I had some type of infection. He did seem a bit shocked at how swollen it was. So was given antibiotics and sent on my way. No other symptoms at all. It doesn't seem to have changed in size and last night the left side became swollen and my throat kinda felt weird. No pain though, no other symptoms. I went to the ER as it felt really strange and I figured maybe it was serious since the right was still same size and then all of a sudden the left began to swell. At the ER they did CT Neck nasophar with IV contrast, CBC with differential and platelet count, chemistry 8 test panel and high sensitive C reactive protein. Everything came back that nothing was wrong. She said the CT scan didn't show any lumps of any sort, she said it didn't even show any swelling which from touch you can easily feel that it's swollen. So they sent me home with nothing and said if it's still swollen next week to call my regular doctor or come back. It's been 2 months so I don't see why in 1 week things will change when it just seems to be getting worse. What more can they do? Should I be concerned. So much says it could be cancer or other serious things. I've read about biopsy's being done, should I ask my doctor if she will do one? I know it's not good to worry, but it's hard not too. Any experienced opinions will be greatly appreciated. Should I wait till next week to see if there are any changes or should I just call today.

Re: Swollen glands in neck

Hello.
I have also found that I have a swollen lump or solid mass on my neck since 2 years ago. I went to the clinic and asked the doctor but the doctor say nothing and it was only a symptoms of inflammation. (The doctor just touched the lump and simply pressed the lump.) The lump does not grown bigger and it is still there until now. Is it related to thyroid system or lymphatic system?

Re: Swollen glands in neck

Ask to have your CT reviewed by second radioogist. Call hospital or go by. Ask your doc to order ultrasound. In the room, make a point to have the tech place his wand on your area of concern. Also suggest strep test. Good luck. Plz post results.
