9 yr old had lymph nodes removed from neck

My 9 year old son had lymph nodes removed from right side of his neck last wed. We were told that 1 would be removed but ended up having 3 removed that had formed a mass near his carotid artery. Dr said they did not look bad but we are still waiting for the pathology report. Anyways, he got very sick the next day and threw up all day and ended up in the hospital for iv's. That helped tremendously. He has run low grade fever and his neck seems swollen and I am just wondering if this is normal! It also feels as if there is a lump under the incision, I just noticed it this morning when I put a bandaid on so he could go to school and his clothing would not rub on it. Anyone have any answers or suggestions?? I am probably just be an overprotective mom but I just want him to be healthy!
