My daughter showed me how to get on the message boards, and was I shocked to see how many women feel the way I do. Thank God I thought I no one seemed to understand. I feel like I am loosing my mind.
My husband just walked in and layed the book Before The Change by Ann Louise Gittleman, down beside me. I can't wait to read it. And I sent him back to the book store for her book The fat Flush Plan. All I know is my GYN says I am too young for menopause, even though all the women on my side of the family went through (as my mother called it) pre-menopause. She said it's just something you have to learn to live with because no Dr. will understand you. My Dr. did put me on progesterine 2 years ago to inhibit the growth of uterine cancer, because of a spot on my cervix, and a spot inside my uterus. The Dr. said it was cancer, then after a second biopsy it was precancer. Whatever! You have to understand I live in a very small town 2 GYB's next town over 75 miles away. Thank goodness for this message board and all of you woman that write Bye Dana

Hi Dana,

Welcome! Isn't it nice to be able to talk about menopause and women issues? Can you imagine what women did in the old days?

What symptoms are you experiencing? When I first started having my peri-meno symptoms (Aug 03), it was horrible. Always been healthy, had tons of energy, etc. I thought I had every disease out there and spent a lot of time on the Internet trying to self-diagnose myself since no dr. was able to confirm anything.

I also have the book. I don't have the Fat Flush book though. I will check it out. I know Csoar (who posts on this board) lost a lot of weight from following the book.

Take care and hope to hear from you.

Molly

Re: No one seems to understand!

Hey there, Dana. Welcome aboard the board. I stumbled on this site a few months back and have visited frequently. Absolutely love it. Perimenopause was pretty crappy when I first started into it but as I'm nearing the end, it's gotten lots better. And yes, husbands and children and coworkers all think we're having personality changes rather than actual physical upheavals. I remember my dad telling my hubby years back to just wait until we were older and he'd be picking up his hat and leaving the house because there'd be no way to get along. We've got so much going on inside our bodies that we lose all tolerance for things that used to just mildly bug us-now they're major issues and I for one have done all the compromising I intend to do-so there. Got to keep a sense of humor about it or you will drive yourself crazier than you already feel. This is a wonderful place to come and vent and share and console and support. Hugs to you lady. It really does get better. cg

Smile Re: No one seems to understand!

Dear Molly and Cowgal,
Thanks for replying to my message. I have had soooo many symptoms for several ,several years. Most of my symptoms are listed in the Before The Change book. Allergies,Anger, Anxiety, Blood sugar imbalance, depression, headaches, brain fog, heart palpitations, hot flashes, breast tenderness, feelings of going crazy, moos swings, bloating, extreme weight gain, sexual desire loss, you name it and it had my name written all over it . But all I have ever heard from some very prominant physcians were oh lose weight and you'll feel like a new woman (that was at age 30 and I weighed about 119lb, I am 5' 0" and was holding down a 10 to 15 hour job and had 5 kids, and married) . So I asked the Doc to stop waisting my time get out of my exam room so I could get dressed and I didnt go back to a GYN for 10 years. I am 41 fixing to be 42, and the symptoms have increased dramatically . I had a spinal injury over 6 years ago and the bladder and bowel incontinece, was blamed on the injury, but everything else there was no answer, not even the weight gain. I had already reached 125lb's at my injury time. Then I went up to 188lb's, now after struggling to loose weight I am down to 164lb's but I have to starve to do that. And I bought a gazelle I can get on that a work out and it doesn't hurt my back. I am so looking forward to reading the before change book and I just tonite went and bought the fat flush plan cookbook and shopping guide, by the same author. So we will see how well this works. At this point I am ready to try anything. Well I have rambled on enough . I just felt so desperate until I read the board. Thanks for listening or should I say reading Dana

Re: No one seems to understand!

Dana- isn't it great to know you're not nuts?? My DH used to think that my PMS had morphed into fulltime - lol! I absolutely LOVE Gittleman's work! She has helped me not only to get through perimenopause without murdering anyone, but her book, the Fat Flush Plan, helped me lose 58 pounds (50 pounds in 5 months!)
I've been in menopause for a year and am in the best health of my life. I've got tons of energy, lovely skin (acne in my teens was bad enough, but having it return with a vengence in perimenopause was TOO MUCH ), better concentration (good-bye brain fog ) and my hair's stopped falling out. Wahooooooooooooooo!
I have the FF Cookbook, too - wanna swap fave recipes?
Anyhoo, welcome to the board.

best wishes,

Charli
