The technical medical definition of perimenopause is "interrupted menses" as in 'irregular.' The technical medical definition of menopause is 'end of menses.'
Progesterone cream, per se, cannot restart menses which are decreasing due to age/genetic predisposition. It might stabilize them some, though.
If you have truly moved into the menopause phase of the equation, it cannot restart your periods and it SURE CAN help with menopausal symptoms like irritability, night sweats/hot flashes, etc.
I had to try 3 OTC progesterone creams before finding the one I'm currently using (ProgestaKey from Unikey Health). Make sure the cream you buy has 'micronized progesterone' as it is the only kind that can be absorbed by the body. Follow the directions for use based on whether you are peri or menopausal (since I am menopausal, I use the cream for 25 straight days and go off for 5).
