Hi ladies, I'm so thankful for this forum, and your help. The first day that I found this forum I was SO depressed because of all my symptoms, and I've been suffering with them for a LONG time, sigh. Anyway, I have just about every symptom on that "estrogen dominance" list, grrrr. I just finished reading "Before the Change" and "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Premenopause". It seems like there is HOPE for me, thank God! I'm going to start on the Peri-zappers this weekend, and I hope to start trying the progesterone cream too. Here a some questions I have for you ladies so far:
1. What brand of progesterone cream do you use? How much, and why? Have you noticed an improvement in your symptoms? How long have you been using it? Dr. Lee says that when you first start using it, sometimes, it can increase the "bad" symptoms for a wee bit. Did any of you ladies have that happen? What are some helpful tips you could offer a newbie about this? Is it ok to buy several containers of the stuff or does it go "bad" after a short time, etc. Sorry for all the questions, but I'm full of brain fog most days and it is hard for me to take all the info in from these books.

Renee,
Welcome to the board! This is a great place to vent and ask questions. There are alot of knowledgeable women on the board and they are very supportive and encouraging also. As far as estrogen dominace I am going through that also. The lab value of my last progesterone blood test was 1!! That was in February, my doc doesn't want to do another right now. She prescribed for me natural progesterone cream made by a compounding pharmacy in my area so it is much more potent than the OTC creams. I am sure the cream will help you and I have read all the books you mentioned. You need the cream I just cannot adivse on OTC since I am using prescription cream. But just hang here and someone will adivse you on it because there are alot of members using it. Just wanted you to know that you are not alone and the estrogen dominance is very common. Hang tough someone will post soon and help answer your questions. Hope you are feeling better soon.
Penny
I'm new too and I hope to get answers to alot of my questions but I'm also walking around in a fog and will have to ask as I think of them. I had tried the progesterone (natural) several years ago and even though I see alot of people on here, use it, I found that it seemed to stop working for me after awhile. I still think it's a great product but I needed more help than just that. I prefer the natural way of fighting all of these symptoms too. As in my post, I find the New Phase in the morning and a black cohosh in the late afternoon, help me much more. I do still have times when I will still get hot flashes due to the humidity and heat here in Florida but compared to a couple of years ago, before I started these other natural hormones, it is much more bearable. Good luck to you and I know there are alot of ladies here that can help both of us. It's nice to know that you're not alone, isn't it?

Thanks for the help.
Age Sucks! 'Course, the alternative isn't any better.
I use OTC progesterone cream (ProgestaKey, from Unikey Health) twice/daily (about a 1/4 tsp each dose).
And it (in conjunction with other perizappers such as GLA, Flax seed oil, vitamin E, magnesium, etc.) have really helped resolve my symptoms (brain fog, joint pain, thinning hair, return of acne, insomnia, irritability, etc.).
I had to try a couple other brands (make sure whatever you try has 'micronized progesterone' as an ingredient) before settling on ProgestaKey. I've been using a progesterone cream for about 6 months and no, I can't say that it made any of my symptoms worse before they got better.
When there's a sale on the cream, I buy lots (hasn't gone bad yet!)
I don't think that you can use progesterone cream alone and expect it to control all of your symptoms. I mean...it's not a miracle cure! And some symptoms seem to be related to dietary deficiencies rather than to hormonal wackiness. IMHO.

Thanks Charli, and all you dear ladies. I appreciate the help so much. I am also getting started on the other PeriZappers too. I've already started the vitamins, and I'm getting ready to get the Flaxseed oil. I know that there is no "magic pill", lol. This is just all so new to me. I didn't think anyone had "symptoms" until AFTER menopause, UGH! I don't even skip periods yet, I'm 47, and YET my bone scan test was -2.2 YIKES. So YES! Stuff can be going on that PRE/PERI menopausal ladies don't even know about. I wish I'd known this stuff 10 years ago, grrrr. Oh and I'm also going on the diet that was mentioned in the book too. I don't want to lose any weight, but the weight that I have is all in my hips, stomach and thighs, of course. Thank you all so much for your helpful answers.
It is nice to know that some of you have gone through this are still have your sanity!
