I'm 55 and haven't had a period for 3 years. I went through the whole peri thing and everything has been pretty good for quite a while. Now since Christmas all my symptoms are back. Hot flashes, tummy problems and overwhelming fatigue. Is this abnormal? I have been lurking here for a couple of months and you guys have helped me feel less alone.
Wow, sorry to hear that you feel bad again. I am 57 years old and haven't had a period for 15 months. However, in the past 15 months things have gotten worse than when I was going through peri. I was hoping that things would get better. I don't have an answer for you because it hasn't been that long for me. Someone on this board said that the symptoms can last up to two years after you stop your periods. I'm sure that that time is not "set in stone." Hope someone here can help you.
I am 53, haven't had a period for about 3 years and am also re-experiencing menopausal symptoms just like you are. I hadn't had many problems for awhile but now all of a sudden I'm having pain in my joints, a mild but almost constant headache and I'm absolutely exhausted. I always thought that once we reached true menopause we were "home free" and wouldn't have to worry about these things anymore. Has anyone else here ever had the achy joints as a symptom of menopause? Good luck, I hope you'll feel better soon.
Yes, achy joints can be a sign of menopause. It, like everything else meno, can also be a sign of other things. I just figure that it is meno because it comes and goes in a month or two week cycles.
I never really paid attention to how long these symptoms last once they pop up. So, have you noticed that menopause symptoms come in two week cycles? That is interesting and I hope these achy joints will subside soon because it is one of my LEAST favorite symptoms so far! Thanks for the info.
