Hi there. I'm a 49 year old woman who has not really noticed any menapausal symptoms till now, accept occasional hot flashes in my face. I am hoping this problem is a normal one; for someone my age! My periods have always been regular...but for over a couple of weeks now, whenever I go to the bathroom, and wipe myself I see blood in my urine. Now it has turned a more brownish color. I'm not saying this very well; but I am hoping someone out there might be familiar with this problem. My usual period is another two weeks off. I have had a pap smear within the last 6 months, and it was normal. Should I be concerned about this? I have not seen a doctor yet about this. I hope someone reading this might have some advice for me. Up till now, my periods have been regular: I've never spotted or missed a period. Hope someone can help! Deb

Period become irregular during perimenopause. This could be periods closer together, further apart, spotting in between periods, light bleeding, heavy bleeding, dark brown, almost black, bright red, dark red and pink. I would contact your gyne about this. They will want to see a pattern, happening more than once or twice before they'll want to do a biopsy.

Andrea,
I am having the same thing. I started spotting on my 16th day it has been light, but the color has changed from a dark brown to a red brown and now to red. What would the biopsy be for? What would the GYN be looking for? I have never spotted. I am suppose to start a new cycle tomorrow, so I am not sure what is going on. Thanks for your help.
