Re: Peri and the Pill
I would ask your doc first. I am on the pill and I'll be 47. I started them at around 38 or so for aweful peri symptoms. I was just writing to "Hopefully" about this. Without the pill I would be misserable. You've probably missed most of the peri goodies by just staying on the pill through meno. That's what I'm doing. It's the ONLY thing that helped me. Nothing else would work for the nasty symptoms I was getting. I have a friend who is 55 and she is on the pill and she asked her doc the same question about going off the pill. He told her "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". He said that she could end up with symptoms, etc. She's planning on staying on it another year or two.
Of course always ask your doc but the pill has been deemed safe pretty much indefinitely at this point as they are so low dose. We need the hormones at this age anyway as we don't produce our own in good quanity at this stage of life.
