abnormal bleeding? - Menopause Message Board

I am 50 years old, haven't had a real period in the last 18 months, however about 2 to 3 times I did have very faint spotting (I don't know if this would still be considered a period or not). This past week I woke up to find that I am having a period, it is very light but it is there. Has anyone ever had this happen to them?

I had that happen after 12 months and now I am on 16 months. After reading the boards, it appears that this can happen.

you might want to see a dr. This happened to my mom and she was diagnosed with polyps of the uterus.she had them removed right away.

If you have not had a period in 12 months (by CDN standards) you are considered in MENOPAUSE therefore any bleeding whatsoever is called POST MENOPAUSAL Bleeding and must be reported. Not to be confused with Peri-menopause, which is sporadic or many periods throughout the year. Menopause (pause in the Menses)

I had no period for 4 years suddenly a period (began with pale pink watery stuff) escalated into a full period (I never had bad ones, so this was in the same line as before) however, I hottailed it to the doctor who sent me to a GYN and I ended up having to have a D & C as no endometrial test in office could be done (long story) suffice to say a D & C with a hysteroscopy and the results were fine and dandy..... just one of those things.....but really you need to tell your doctor about this period.
