doctor appt - Menopause Message Board

I posted the message about being sick of doctors.

I called the office yesterday to ask them to send me my blood work. I figured I would take it to another doctor. I really want to try homone treatment to ssee If I feel better.
The receptionist said she would send it to me. She also said the doctor wants me to come in for another appt. So I am going to go and see what he has to say. I hope it isn't just a I don't think you need treatment right now and thank your for coming in. I hope he will consider checking the progesterone level. I go on the 17. LindaM

Linda, I haven't read your previous post about being fed up with doctors, but I do hope that your appointment on the 17 goes well. It is quite challenging finding a good doctor especially when you don't feel well. Keep us posted on your progress.

I am seeing an endocrinologist/gyn. My first appointment with her last February she did blood work to check my progesterone level. It came back 1 and I was in the Luteal stage of my cycle and it should have been higher than one. She started me on Natural Progesterone Cream made by a compouding pharmacist in our area. Maybe you should consider seeing and endo. Hope you find help soon and feel better.

Penny, Your lucky to have a doctor willing to do this. I am printing outyours and others here that have posted about getting blood work for progestrone when this doctors nurse says we don't need that tested. As long as we have a period. Do you know if to be tested for progesterone its suppose to be at a certain time in the cycle? thanks Linda

If I were you, I would keep looking for a doctor, perferably a gyne/endo/infertility specialist. Don't worry about anyone thinking your're crazy, just find a doctor that recognizes and accepts perimenopause.
