Menopause and ovulation bleeding - Menopause Message Board

Hi,

I'm 49 and really don't have any symptoms of menopause yet except for the fact that I'm always warm when others are having chills. Anyway, I have very regular periods still, but here I am at day 14 of my cycle and have been bleeding very lightly for two days. I occasionally have had some mid-month spotting during this time previously, but this seems almost like another period coming on. Is this normal approaching the menopause years? My doctor told me in April when I went in for my last pap and exam that I probably would be experiencing some irregularities soon. Is this what he means or should I call him anyway if it doesn't let up by next week. This is very light so far; nothing that I would call heavy at this time.

BTW, I'm not on hormones at this time except for progesterone cream which I just started yesterday, hoping it would help but so far hasn't.

I did have a hormonal imbalance some years ago and was put on Provera which helped. Maybe I need this again or is this common approaching the change of life?

Yes, this is very common in peri. Spotting and prolonged periods. Also, periods that come every two weeks to every 4 months. With the face flush and irregular periods, you could be at the beginning of peri. These are the most common beginning symptoms, along with insomnia and irritability. ( any one would be irritable going through this).

I thought that was what was happening, but didn't know if it was that common. Will be so glad when these monthly hassles are overwith!

Hang in there. It can be a bumpy ride at times and what got me through was coming to this board where I found so many women who were facing the same problems that I was. I read many books on the subject and not one of them were as comprehensive as coming here with a problem. Just ask. In fact, if you sift through some of the posts you will come upon two that have a complete list of peri symptoms ( part one and part two). These two posts will tell it all.
