nagging symptom; need reassurance - Menopause Message Board

Hi, I'm 47 and think I'm having my first annoying symptom.
Acid indigestion type of thing....it's freaking me out.
I've lurked on this board before and notice that some of you have had this symtpom...
(I'm just freaking because it can also be a symptom of ovarian cancer; I've got a gyn appointment in november...till then..aaaaaaaacccckkkkk).
I'm a worrier and just wondered how long this tummy thing can last for those who have had it.

I love this board...I"m so glad I found it and I just wanted to say "thank you" for all of you who have shared your information.

Now, don't go and start imagining things and worrying yourself to the point where you make your stomach all upset! Anxiety causes indigestion type thing too!

I know, I have done that to myself. There are several ladies on this board who have acid reflux thing and irritable bowel...I am sure they will be posting a response to you.

In the meantime, rest assure that you are fine!!! Have you taken any of the OTC indigestion meds? How long have you felt this way?

I have an acid stomach! Anything I eat, I mean anything turns to acid. I never used to be like this until 3 years ago. I think this is all part of meno.

It's been about 3 weeks of this, which is very unusual for me.
This and acne seem to be my biggest complaints.

I know how you feel. When I started meno my indigestion became much worse and you are in the age range for peri. I started taking Nexium several years ago and even with the medicine there are times when I can't get any relief. I am like you and immediately thought of ovarian cancer because the indigestion ( burping, acid feeling, tightness of chest, gas, bloating) was going on so long and I was even taking medicine to prevent it. The last time I had this ( have had it several times) it took 6 weeks to clear up. I tried everything. Eliminated everything from my diet. I just got used to it and read lots of other postings and slowly (very) it went away. That was the third long period of indigestion since this whole thing started. Hope this helps.
