Hello, this is my first question since I have been a member. And I feel like it will be the most stupid one thus far but oh well Here goes; I have the extra gas problem and sometimes it seems to affect me in a weird way. I will be doing just fine and then all of a sudden my body tenses up, I feel depressed, I feel dizzy and feel kinda scared, then after about 2 or 3 minutes, I feel gas pass and I feel better. Now before, if I had gas, I didn't feel all those things. I just had gas and knew what it was right away. Now its like it has taken on a whole new life and meaning in the way it gets to me. Anyone ever experience this or anything close to it? If I don't get any responses, I will know it was a stupid question.
Hi Roselane,
First, there aren't any stupid questions I have that happen to me also, not with the dizzy so much but with the rest. I don't know if its anxiety or what, but it's scary. I have alot of ibs and gerd problems and practically every peri symptom known to man....guess this is another, huh? I had the same thing just a couple hours ago but it's also the last day of my period and I'm passing major clots and for some reason my body goes all wacky when that happens too until they're gone. Hopefully someone else will have some words of wisdom for this too!
Hope it gets better for you...

I have had the gas problems. They come in cycles of about a month and then disappear until the next one decides to show up. I have also had the dizzy sensation and tense sensation and that usually occurs right before a hot flash. It is very scary.
I suppose in your situation, you probably get tense and anxious which is common in peri and by tensing up your muscles you also tense up your intestine because that is a muscle also. Thus, the gas. Somehow, this calms you down until the next episode.
These are all peri symptoms. We all put them together in different ways. I tense my muscles and have jaw pain, or indigestion, or very strange aches and pains that no one else has described.
It helps to know that anxiety and indigestion, IBS, irritable bladder ( another tensing situation that goes away when I relax) are all part of peri and the anxiety associated with it.

I have had really bad problems with gas since all of my symptoms started last year. I turned 44 in September of this year. I have had gas so bad around my left breast that I went to my GP and had an EKG done. I believe you are experiencing a form of anxiety or maybe a panic attack. Panic attacks sent me to my GP last summer and all the other things followed. A panic attack would start and I would have to go to the bathroom (bm). I have all of it under control now thank God. I am taking Paxil CR 25 mg I started it in Feb of this year. I also take 1 mg of Klonopin at night. I am so much better now, but I really went through it with the panic attacks, gas, tingling and numbness, etc. One night the left side of my head went numb for a few seconds followed by the worst panic attack I have had. I also have had a CT Scan of the brain done, and lots of blood tests, pap smear, mammogram. Peri makes you feel like you are dying with some undetermined diease! I don't mean to say all this to make you have fear I was just letting you know the varied responses you can have to Peri-Menopause. Hope you are feeling better.

This isnt a stupid question at all!!!!!!!! I am 44, and for the past year or so (since I have become perimenopausal) I have had those symptom too....so often (several times a week) that now, I am so use to it, I dont let it bother me so bad, knowing it will pass.
I feel tense, dizzy and like I am going to throw up....soon, I will pass gas and feel 100% better!!!!! as a matter of fact, it happened last week, I was waiting on a friend to go have lunch, I thought...oh now, gonna be sick, I felt so panicy and tensed and light headed...within a few min. I passed some gas and felt normal again. so strange! I thought it was just ME!!!!!!!!!
