Has anyone one heard whether having a hysterectomy will help alleviate some of these horrible symptoms?

From what I understand, most women have to take some kind of HRT after a hyst b/c you start having all these symptoms due to the lack of ability to produce estrogen. They call this as "early menopause" b/c you're forced to go into menopause. I don't know if your symptoms would be necessarily worse but having a hyst doesn't guarantee you will be walking around symptom-free either (unless you're like my sister who was 52--pretty much meno already, then had a hyst, and haven't had bad symptoms also b/c she said she overweight and she still has estrogen b/c of her fat cells). I notice her memory isn't like it was before tho.

My sister in law had a complete hysterectomy about 20 years ago and she had problems after the hysterectomy and even to this day. My other sister in law who kept her ovaries felt great after her hysterectomy (done in her 30's). She is now almost 50 and has a milder version of the all the symptoms I have. You just never know. I know women who declare that they've never felt better in their life, then there are those who developed a lot of health issues afterward.

My assistant at work had a hysterectomy about 5 years ago. She is still having symptoms. She had hot flashes, weight gain, depression, and can't sleep. It is like she is in menopause- which I think she is even with the hysterectomy. I have seen her go from doctor to doctor to find relief- she has tried natural hormones- then the patch- then nothing.
She is 51 and I have seen her age a lot since the operation. Her skin has changes and her whole demeanor is diffierent- more like someone older then she is.
I am aganist the procedure unless you life is threatened. I really think for many women and doctors it is a quick fix.
