Am I premenopause? - Menopause Message Board

The last 3 months I have been having really weird symptoms that I never had before. I wake up sweating and my nightgown is damp- even sweating between my legs and my underware is damp. I sweat just doing normal housework. My last 3 periods have been back to unbearable cramps- haven't had that since I was a teen. My teeth ache and there is no reason.I feel hot a lot but also have chills. I am turning 40 in June- and never had these symtoms before. Is it premenopause?

- also weird dreams I never had before, brown discharge starting period and after, and some others that I have read on the board here.Please help.

Not a lot of fun is it. While I don't have the sweating, I do take evening primrose oil capsules and also drink soy milk every day which is supposed to help with the sweats. My teeth also have become very sensitive, and there is a relatively recent post that someone else said they also were having those problems. The dark brown discharge is pretty common at this time. Mine started last Feb, and I'd get it before my period for a few days, then for a day or so afterwards. This stopped about November, and now every month is a lottery for me. Try the soy for the sweating, and if the discharge is part of the normal cycle I wouldn't worry too much. If it hapens between monthly cycles, then certainly mention it to the Dr. Take care

Welcome to our Happy Group. This is a great place to find answers and support. I thought I was nuts until I found these boards.
My symptoms started right before I turned 40.
My periods are just now starting to get crazy, and I mean crazy. I use to be like clockwork too. Some months I get two periods a month. My last one was followed a week after it was done with terrible cramps and brown discharge.
Like you described I hadn't had cramps like that since High School or better yet Childbirth.
I haven't had the sweats YET but wake up in the middle of the night and can not get back to sleep for hours. I wake feeling hung over every single day.
I went for my yearly a week ago and talked to my gyno. She wants to check for fibroids first since they can cause your periods to get irregular? I may have fibroids but I have way too many other symptoms that have nothing to do with fibroids and all to do with perimenopause.
