I'm really mad at my Dr. Now

Okay ladies... I know I had a thread about my Dr. Vent a few weeks back .
I now have a update and I am even more furious than I was back then.
I went in for numerous symptoms, aniexy, racing HB, Irregular periods, mood swings, sore breast, not sleeping the list goes on and on....
I asked to get my hormone level tested and instead she insisted on a Ultra Sound saying it could be Fibroids. Well NO fibroids just a tiny one that the tech could hardly see.
I have waited two weeks for her to go over my formulary plan of Meds. my insurance will cover to help with symptoms.
I get a call today from the nurse telling me the Dr. said I should just go to a psychologist and that she doubts it is hormonal? I hit the roof!!!
She told me 42 is way too young to have symptoms and instead of meds. perhaps I should just go talk to someone, all the while my hormone level has yet to be checked!
To date I have spent out of pocket close to 3 grand on various test for the racing heart beat and aniexy all have found nothing. The logical thing to me is to check my hormones.
I said my peace which was not at all nice and told them I would find a new Dr. The Nurse pleaded with me not to and that she would have the Dr. "personally" call me and talk about this.
If I have one more bad Dr. experience I don't know what I will do

Re: I'm really mad at my Dr. Now

Sorry to hear what has been happening for you. I suggest change Dr's. Ask around and find one that suits you better. I did that, and am so much happier now.

My Dr did tell me no use doing a hormone level test until no period for 3 mths as it won't give an accurate result. I got to day 65!! So near and yet so far. Maybe send her this site to read up and she may have a better understanding.

Good luck

Jude

Re: I'm really mad at my Dr. Now

Funny you should mention this site, I had to laugh because I did bring it up to her. You know what she said?? If I had a dollar for every person who comes in with a diagnosis from the internet. I have tried 3 different Dr.s'.
This last one really made me angry for obvious reasons but not only that she kept me waiting for hours in the exam room and then rushed me out the door in a matter of minutes. I had to chase her down the hall, ridiculous.

Re: I'm really mad at my Dr. Now

Oh Bell , I am soo sorry you are having this experience with the doctor. I know what it is like as I have a doctor and no matter what my reason for seeing her is, her answer is always "It's anxiety". Until yesterday when I almost fell over. I took my daughter in for a check up as she was in the hospital for 4 days over the March break. While in the waiting room I grabbed a pamphlet on Hot flashes and Meno. Had it in my hand when we went into the Marissa app't. We gabbed about how she was doing and everything. Then when I was leaving I said " I have to make an app't for myself, held up the pamphlet and said "I think this is happening " She says (this is where I almost fell over) " Oh yeah isn't it lovely, I am going through the beginnings of that myself, Make an app't and come see me we can compare" she laughed and I went on my way. I never have luck with Doctors...what would the odds be that mine would also be in peri??? Anyway I really hope she calls you back and is understanding about what you going through. Take care Bell I will be thinking of you and hope it works out....Lesley

By the way , I don't know if I mentioned it , but I am 42 too and I think my doctor is somewhere around that maybe 43,44.

Re: I'm really mad at my Dr. Now

Thanks! I often think WE know more about our own health than the Dr.'s do? Sometimes I really feel like they want us to spend as much money as we can on Test. She told me for aniexy she can't really give me anything else. I take Buspar and it makes me so tired. It was insulting to tell me to see a shrink!
Before I found these boards I just might go do that but I know I'm not alone and I also know we all can't be having the same symptoms "just because".
My periods have become irregular too.
Sorry about you daughter talk about aniexy nothing is worse than worrying about your kids!! Hope she is 0kay now?
My Dr. is 35 and apparently clueless. I find I know more about Meds. than she does from all the research I do. All they seem to know is what the drug Rep's tell them.
By the way, when I got home from picking my son up from school there was a message from the nurse telling me she ordered the test but I don't think I want to deal with their office again!!
We need Gyno's that don't deliver babies!!! One's that deal strickly with Menopause and Hormones would be even better
