| Re: On Premarin for years
My mother in law has taken estrogen for 34 years, and doesn't have any heart problems other than high cholesterol. She was also told way back then that she could take it for the rest of her life. She still has menopause symptoms even at her age if she doesn't take it.
She said she takes it mainly for vanity because she said it prevents wrinkles. I don't know if that is common, but she looks at least 20 years younger than she is.
It's very confusing to keep up with the ever changing guidelines for medication, and treatments. One minute they are the miracle cure, and the next they are getting pulled off the market. It's so hard to know what to do sometimes.
HRT is supposed to help with preventing heart disease, but there so many other contributing factors for developing heart problems. A person's life style, family history, etc. have a lot to do with it too.
