Freezing Please Help - Menopause Message Board

My Dr.s are stumped with my symptons. Real quick Im 33 had a baby (third) in July C section then two week leater emergency gallbladder. I have had chills so bad since the baby. I wake up sometimes shaking from head to toe. I have the air on 80 in the house and i wear a sweatshirt and pants. Then when I start moving around I get real hot and I sweat really bad, even when Im cold. I stay cold all of the time.
My Gyn said Im Anemic but my last blood test showed those levels up. My liver enzymes are elevated as well. (this could be from gallblader surg)
Can this all be menopause?
Please let me know what you think! I just want to enjoy my kids again!!

Hi. I am a visitor from the thyroid board. One idea may be your thyroid and it might be time to get blood work for that as problems can kick in after pregnancy. If you do, make SURE the doctors tests (no matter what he says) for FT4, FT3 and TSH as well as the antibodies for Hashimotos disease (autoimmune thyroid disease)...you can get chills with this and many symptoms are similar to menopause. If you get the labs, you can post them on the thyroid board and the many good and knowledgable folks there can help you figure them out. Hope this helps, Pixiek

Thanks for your help! I have my blood work and the only thing I see on there that you mentioned is the TSH and it is 1.37. Would the T4 be under anything else I dont see that.

It could be but sounds more like post partum, I went through this too after having mychild. I suggest you also run a thyroid test, make sure your thyroid did not go hypo after your child, it's common.

It is hard to judge by just TSH but that does not look too bad. If you continue to not feel well and you wonder about the thyroid, you should also have tested FT4, FT3 and the antibodies for autoimmune thyroid disease. These are all blood tests and I think fairly easy to get...some doctors are stubborn and won't test for them all, but if you suspect thyroid, insist on them. If you are anemic are you taking anything for it? You might not be able to regulate body temperature if you have an iron problem...(I don't know this for sure) I have very low iron and I take an over the counter that is gentle on the system...might be worth asking your doctor about.
