how to use progesterone cream?

Hello all...I was wondering if anyone has any experience on using the Natural progesterone cream..Im kinda confused about the usage of it..
Ok im 30 with negative 17 of progesterone.Ok it says on the directions women in reproductive years do not use through day 1 -14..then use day 15 - 28..Well my cycles are irregular..Last month I started the 12th..Well this month I didn't start on the 12 so I decided to use the cream the 14th of this month...
My question is do I just use it till I start then when I do stop for 14 days then resume?
Or should have had waited 14days after the 12th to start?
Also does this this stuff make you have cramps? Ive only been on it for 4 days...Or is it my period actually trying to start..This is madness..lol
Sorry if this is confusing and long..Im just at total lost when it comes to hormones..Take Care

Re: how to use progesterone cream?

I'm having a hard time with when to use hormone creams also because my periods started being so irregular. I have an appointment with my gyno tomorrow who prescribed the progesteron/estrogen (supposed to use days 14-28) and testosterone/DHEA (supposed to use every day). All my hormones were low. My periods used to be every 21 days, then for 3-4 months were 35-40 days. Then this month I just started my period on about day 20. Go figure.

As far as just progesterone goes, as far as I understand if it doesn't affect your cycles you may use every day. If your hormones are so low that it keeps you from cycling by using every day, then you should do as you are doing which is only taking the first 3 weeks of your cycle and then going off so you will have a period.

Talk to your gyno next time, but in the mean time, if you start your period, then count that as day 1. Yes, if you're cramping you may be getting ready to start, but you might go ahead and stay on the cream until you actually do. Like I said at your age, you probably will still cycle even if you are taking the cream.

Also, I'm not sure how this affects you if you are trying to conceive. There may be different rules. Since that wasn't my intention, I never asked about how that might change how I use the cream.

Hi Kati thank you so much for the wonderful information..
Im not trying to conceive as well..Im trying to see if this will balance out my thyroid im hypo ..Im a big mess let me tell you...The only thing that was normal on my labs were my estradoil..Everything else was either to high or to low..
If you dont mind me asking since you were low on all of your hormones ..Did that effect your thyroid and were you having any physical symptoms? Like anxiety, depression, panic attacks , muscle weakness, trouble remembering things..
Once again thank you for your time...... Take Care

Re: how to use progesterone cream?

Count day 1 as the day your period starts. My doctor has me on the cream day 10 thru day 26. So on day 10 I start using the cream. Day 26 is my last day and I've been starting my period within two days after that. If you spot a little at first, don't worry about it just keep using the cream. Its your body getting used to it. I had a bit of cramping, bloating and sore breasts when I first started using the cream. This goes away after about 3 cycles. Don't stop the cream for so long - if you don't start your period within 5 days, then start the cream again. This is the advice I've been given by my doctor so I thought I would share it with you.
