Hi, well I got to the GYN today and we did a lot of blood tests. I will not know the exact results for two weeks but meanwhile we discussed birth control pills and HRT for me.
Now, this is Japan so the amount of projesterone and estrogen in the birth control pills and the HRT are different I think. I would want to take a low dose of birth control pills, right?
Anyway, here are the amounts and I wonder if you may be able to help me with how the Japanese HRT and Birth control pills compare to USA low dose pills for peri:
HRT Pills: Projesterone is 2.5 mg
Estrogen is 0.625 mg
Birth Control pills: Projesterone is 0.5mg
Estrogen is 0.035mg
My concern is taking to much and worrying about breast cancer. There is a much lower incidence of breast cancer here in Japan so they may not worry about the BC pills or HRT as much.
Thank you for your help, Hopefully! I hope something will help my foggy head! Pixiek

Start low and then increase as needed. Japan is a good country, I would think they know what they are doing. Why don't u look also into the herbs there, natural medicine too?
Pixiek, those figure are comparable to those in the US. I took Ovcon 35 bcp and the estrogen/progestin ratio is:
Ovcon-35 - norethindrone 35 mcg estrogen, 0.40 mg progestin
Provera is medroxyprogesterone acetate 2.5, 5, 10 mg
Premarin is conjugated estrogens (equine) -- 45% estrone sulfate; 55% equine estrogens 0.3, 0.625 (standard), 0.9, 1.25, and 2.5 mg
You might want to start with something lower than 35 mcg estrogen...I originally started with 20mcg. I think the NuvaRing has 15mcg of estrogen, and I don't know about anything lower.
I don't know anything about the affect of bcp on thyroid functions, but please make sure that you are able to take bcp if your thyroid levels are off balanced. Of course I pray that you have success and peace of mind in whatever you decide .
As I head into lots of fun with PMS this week (very weepy!) everyone's comments, suggestions and advice were so appreciated! Thank you. The BCP are called low dose here and apparently don't come any lower, but if I needed perhaps they can make up something special...we will see. I see the doctor again in two weeks to decide what to do based on blood tests and all...yes, the thyroid condition throw a wrench into the whole thing...feel quite tired of trying to feel well.....Pixiek
Pixiek, here is a great big {{{{{{{{HUG}}}}}}}. Yes, it can be a challenge trying to feel well nowadays. The other day I tried to remember what I was like before perimenopause and I truly had a difficult time recalling, but every now and then I do have those moments, and at times a day , when I feel completely "normal". That is what makes this peri thing frustrating. On the good days I wonder what exactly is happening within my body to make me feel so good! I guess if I could figure that out then I could write a best selling "how to" book and become wealthy .
Thanks Hopefully! I know what you mean...on those good days you feel like going out and having every blood test done in the world...get a snap-shot of exactly what is "right" and then take the right combinations of everything so you can feel that way all the time....hmmm, I guess that is what they call heaven!
