| Re: flaxseed question
Hi Belle
Flaxseed contains lignans which are a phytoestrogen, like black cohosh, soy etc, which is a plant estrogen, which can help balance the estrogen progesterone ratio, much like soy or black cohosh, which also contain phytoestrogens.
There are benefits to the ground flaxseed as well as the oil. The ground is useful for IBS, constipation and other bowel issues. The oil has many benefits too, so should also help with any perimenopausal symptoms, as well as tons of other benefits that are associated with the omega 3 oils...it is believed flaxseed may reduce inflammation,
lower cholesterol, control high BP, protect against heart disease, help with acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, and other things.
So, both are helpful, although the oil is pretty easy to use. I've used it for dry eyes with some success, at the recommendation of my eye doc.
Hope this helps.
Hellas
