Blowing off steam! Anyone else?

I know it's probably here, but I can't find it and I need to let go or I will go crazy!! I already feel that way sometimes! I started peri about 5 years ago and was told at that time that I was no where near on blood levels, whatever that means. I sometimes wonder what do dr's know anyway. But I was getting crazy angry at nothing, going off on people for no reason, including my husband. Fortunately he is very understanding as he has had to deal with his mother, who still gets hormone shots once a month for the past 10 years or so. If she misses it, everyone knows and tells her to go get her shot.

My dr prescribed hormone replacement at the lowest levels 16 months ago, and upped the dosage 8 months ago, but here I am again, going into blind rages for something as small as having to take out the garbage. I had to stop my self from yelling at my husband about it. I stood in the kitchen for 15 minutes, calming myself down, and finally relaxed enough to finish taking out the garbage and then cooking dinner.

Now as I type this, I want to cry for no reason other than I can't stand myself when I get like this. I do thank god that he is very understanding. Then he comes in and reads this and I feel worse.

I know intelectually that all this will end one day, but emotionally I sometimes feel I can't stand it anymore. But the alternative is not an option, ever!! I will get through!! I will, I will, I will.

Hi & Welcome!
I think everyone here knows what you are going thru. And I hope you hang around, because this board has been so much help.
Perimenopause can have such an horrific effect on you, both emotinally & physically, but it does get better. I came on here months ago complaining that I felt like the "pod people" had come and switched me with some evil person.
And have found so much help from these ladies. I've found help with the physical & the crazy mood swings.
Many women reccomend a book called, The Pause, although I haven't read it.
But stick around and jump in on any thread, and read past posts, as you will find a lot of help, empathy, and support.

Hello wackybobo,

Welcome. I agree with Hellas that I hope you stick around here. These women have so much understanding and good information. They have halped me more then I could begin to tell you. I'm glad your husband is understanding, that helps. You might consider taking some natural supplements along with the HRT you are taking. Are you getting good sleep? A lot of the ladies here are taking Omega 3 fish oil and finding it is helping with depression, anxiety, and sleeping. It has helped me with depression and panic attacks. I am currently taking and HRT also.

Keep checking in and posting, I find that just having somewhere to go and vent with ladies the truely understand what I am going through has been one of the biggest helps. So hope to here from you again. Take care and have a good day.

I understand completely. Before I even realized I was in peri, I used to tell my husband that "this is what it must feel like to be insane"! You know it's not rational, but the feelings are there. It's a hormonal "take over" of your body (mainly horrific PMS for me). About 2 years ago, I read a book called "What your Doctor never told you about perimenopause". It helped me a lot as far as nutrition and exercise and realizing how much that can affect the way you feel. In more recent months, as my symptoms turned severe, I have also researched and am now taking minerals and natural HRT. Both of which have helped immensely.

I am still very sensitive to stress which causes anxiety and, boy, do I know when PMS arrives (my periods can no longer be counted by days because they are too irregular). It helps knowing what it is, recognizing it and just going with the flow. My husband has learned to deal with it - he even knows it's starting before I do!

Hang in there, do what it takes, look for easy remedies, try different things, ask for patience from those around you. And, most importantly, vent here!!
