Anyone have low blood sugar during menstruation

I suffer from low blood sugar during that time. Anyone else notice this? I run in the 70's although my Dr. says that is not that low but I sure feel terrible when its that low. Feel better in the high 80's and 90's.

Re: Anyone have low blood sugar during menstruation

Oh yes, I went through this and initially I did not relate it to perimenopause. My glucose level was always dropping and making me feel simply horrible. Many times I would not be hungry, but when my levels dropped and I began to sweat, become disoriented, and feel like passing out I'd quickly eat something. Now the interesting thing is that these symptoms also mimic those of perimenopause. I found that eating 6 times a day (3 meals and 3 snacks) seem to help.

Thanks for the reply Hopefully, how long did it last with you. I have totally quit sugar....do have carbs, try to eat a balanced meal but during that time it doesn't matter what I do,,,, I feel out of it with low sugars. I'm ready to start eating sugar again.

Re: Anyone have low blood sugar during menstruation

Greeneyed, I vaguely remember that symptom lasting several months. As with the rest of my peri symptoms they just start one day and stop without me knowing. In thinking about your question I realized that I had low blood sugar issues while I was on bcp, since I've stopped I've not had too many incidents. I really don't know if there is a connection. Protein seems to be the key to keeping your blood sugar leveled.
