OH, this fitful sleep!

Hi everyone,

I continue to be sleep deprived. Every night I wake up at least every 45 minutes and have to go to the bathroom. Then, I come back to bed, wake up 45 minutes later and back to the bathroom, and so on.... I finally get into a better sleep around 3:00am, but I have to be in the shower by 5:00am! I take an Ativan around 7:00pm for the anxiety, and then a low dose Restoril at bedtime, but still I'm sleep deprived. This is probably one of the most troublesome parts of peri for me.

Do any of you have sleeping problems, and is it every night??

This continues to be a problem for me as well. Not every night, though, mine comes and goes. I notice when I am nearing my period and on my period, it gets worse. Last night I woke at 2:30 a.m. with an anxiety attack. fun, eh? Let me tell you, having one of those in the middle of the night is much worse than during the day. Plus my joints have been aching, especially my left arm, so of course I think I'm having a heart attack and you know the rest...I'm very tired of all of this and tired of being tired!!

Yes, this is most troubling. Of all the horrible symptoms, even though improved, it still plagues me. I do seem to have worse insomnia right before my period. It's like at night, no matter how tired I am, I'm just "awake". If I have 2-3 nights in a row, I'll take an Ambien (actually half, .5 mg). Other nights, I just wake up because I have to go to the bathroom or my husband snores or my lower back is hurting (I need to ge back to physical therapy!). I've actually always been a fairly light sleeper. But this past year has been pretty bad. I think I've just sort of accepted that I only get 1-2 good night's sleep in a month. Most of the time, it's a degree of not so great to bad. I just accept it and try not to dwell on it during the day, no matter how tired I am.

Have you ruled out bladder problems since you are going so often during the night?
