Elleste HRT

Hi just a question please - my wife started on the Elleste Duet conti tablets 11 days ago as prescribed by the surgery - she is 42 and had all the symptoms of being perimenopausal - she said a few days ago she thinks the tablets are not doing any good - is it true that when starting on a course of tablets such as these that you can actually get symptamatically worse before getting better? Also how long would it take before she felt any change if at all in herself? I have read somewhere that she would probably need to be taking them for 4-6 weeks to feel the lifting of the symptoms - The GP surgery do not seem to be very informative or supportive when treating menopausal women - she is only 42 and has been irregular for around 15 months having not had a period since mid-Feb - the main symptom she has now is that she is struggling very hard with her emotions - weepy - doesnt know wehat she wants - she says she feels lonely but wants to be on her own - I am caing and helping her through this even to the point she wants to be in a flat on her own (which we have just got although she is not in it yet) it is all very emotionally confusing for her she said to me last night she does not deserve me - I am there for her 24*7 and have researched this subject to try and understand her plight. So back to my original query should we give these tablets the recommended 4-6 weeks to see if they control her hormones or should she go back to surgery? I have just purchased some MACA also having read about the product which has good reviews - thankyou very much

Re: Elleste HRT

what a caring hubby you are
it can take up to 3 months for symptoms to get better and they may not go away altogether but get more managable for her.
sometimes it does get worse for a little while until her hormones are more stable
hope this helps

Re: Elleste HRT

thanks Andrea - she really is struggling with this from an emotional angle - we spent the day on a farm yesterday with our granddaughter and went for a drink last night - she is i think moving into the flat this week - it is all very confusing for her and for me - god did I not expect "the change" to cause so much turmoil - It is as though she loves me but is not in love we give each other comforting hugs but she feels she must be on her own to deal with this. she said to me last night why am I so caring - she expects me to be fed up with it all and "flip" - I told her a lot and I mean a lot of men would have but I want to help her through this surreal journey and have made a massive effort to study this subject - I tried to coax her onto one of the menopausal forums where she can communicate with women going through the same experiences - time I am hoping will be the factor I feel so sorry for her and want to help so much but I respect her decision to get through it on her own - I have said to her at least give it the 3 month supply of the elleste and see where that takes her - thanks again

Re: Elleste HRT

try to get her onto these boards they really will help her.
i also have a very understanding husband, but there are times when it gets tooooooooo much for him, its one of those things she has to come to terms with, and she will when she knows its a normal thing to happen although extremely unpleasant.
i have been going through this for a few years now and it does help knowing it will all end one day.
just continue to be there for her when she needs you, it will sort itself out eventually.
if after 3 months on hrt she still feels the same, tell her to go back to the doctor it maybe that the doseage is not quite right or another preparation might suit her better.
good luck to the both of you

Re: Elleste HRT

Thanks - I am hoping it will sort itself out in a few more weeks - even when she moves into flat there will be line of communication - she knows how much I love and care for her and she doesnt like hurting me - I just have to show her I am being strong and have my own emotional upsets out of her sight - the hormones have her hostage and she is probably frightened she wont get the normal feelings back - thanks again
