Appointment with OBGYN-Now what? Help - Menopause Message Board

Help. Made an appointment with an obgyn in late June. Not sure where to go from there and what to expect or what kind of questions to ask the doctor. Please advise anyone.... I am at a loss here.

Do I stay on Estratest therapy or go on herbs? What is better? I am very young yet but small framed and petite. Not sure how to handle this. Breast cancer runs in my family as well. I am worried about cancer if I stay on the meds.

Are there any out there who are in a similar diliemma?

Without knowing about your history, here is some general thoughts.

Write down all of your symptoms (and how often, when in your cycle, etc.)
Do as much research as possible on the HRT you are taking and talk to your Dr. about long term risks. Write these questions down and take with you. I know sometimes I get busy talking and may forget to ask something.

I think the best thing is to be just as informed as you can before you go see your Dr. You will be better prepared to ask questions and take in information. Some doctors don't believe in herbal or natural remedies and they may or may not work for you. Most Dr.'s will be honest about their beliefs. If they think it's hogwash and you are leaning that way, you may want to consider finding another Dr. who will at least be supportive to the path you choose.
