Here is my update....

I have taken 9 pills. My first 3 days I still felt like I was in unstable hormonal hell.... like usual. Then around day 5-6... I felt a sense of balance. I can't explain it... I'm only day 9 on these bcp's and I feel better than I have felt in a year.

Ladies.... ask your doctors about this option. It's NOT like HRT. I just wish I would have done this sooner. I will keep you all posted and keep hoping this is not just some temporary fix.... just wanted to let you all know

I am glad you are feeling better. I have taken BCP for several months now. I started late last month, so that messed up my period but that was my fault. The only problem I have noticed is that the first week of each new month on the pill I am getting such bad nausea and headaches. It gets better the second week, but I still have alittle nausea. Not enough that I have lost any weight though! I did gain some right at the beginning of starting the pill, but that has tapered off now. I do sleep much better, acne has improved some too. I get pretty bloated towards the end of my packet. I guess there is always good and bad with everything. I hope you continue to feel good. Ann

I'm very glad to hear that you are feeling better. I hope that this continues for you.

I had to comment on your statement: "It's NOT like HRT." I think it actually is. Depending on the pill you are taking, it is a combination of synthetic estrogen and progestin. It's possible that you were low in these hormones and now that you are getting them, you feel better. I think it doesn't work for some women because they may have different hormone needs and the bcp doesn't help to balance them out.

I certainly don't mean to offend or say this is not a good option because it certainly can be for some. I truly hope this works long term for you!

Just wondering how old are you Mistyeyze? How long have you been having problems? I started having problems about 3 years ago. I am 43 now and have really bad migrains the day after I start my period. The Gyno told me it's from my hormones getting lower. I have never had migrains until now. I asked him about checking my level. He said "Well if your having your periods still you don't need hormones". I was on bcp when I was younger. Just wondering if they would be helpful.
