Has anyone been on "Prometrium"

Hi, I'm new to HRT. I have only been on an estrogen patch for about 2 weeks. Now my doctor wants me, starting 9/1, to take Prometrium for 12 days to bring on my period. My question is, how am I going to feel for those 12 days? Bloated, pms, etc? I'm going on vacation 9/8 and don't want to feel crumy the whole time, then on top of it get a period. Wondering if I should hold off and start sometime later.

any information will be greatly appreciated.
thanks

Re: Has anyone been on "Prometrium"

I think you can delay your period by not taking the Prometrium until after your vacation. Don't think there is anything magic about the date. If you have been on the patch for a long time you have a chace of having the lining in your uterus build up and without shedding it you can risk cancer. But that wouldn't be a risk if you just started in HRT....

I took porgesterone for the last two weeks of my cycle when I was on HRT and it makes you feel like you have PMS, not fun for a vacation. Also, I bled quite heavily while on it, not fun for vacation. I think Prometrium is a natural progesterone and maybe you won't have as severe PMS on it. BUT, for a vacation coming up, I'd wait.

Have a good time. Good luck....

Re: Has anyone been on "Prometrium"

BTW - Be somewhat "prepared" for a big period when you do take your progesterone. That was my experience anyway......

On a short note, these times are trying but we all get through them A sense of humor helps a lot.....We are powerful women. Can you imagine a man going through this?

Have a wonderful trip... Hope you are going to an exotic beach........

No!

Wouldn't it be halarious if just for 24 hours all men would feel our symptoms? 7AM- to the next 7AM... that way they could enjoy a whole day, then have hot flashes and insomnia that night....
