totally overwhelmed - Menopause Message Board

I would love any advice or suggestions. I apologize in advance for my negativity and for the length of this message. I'm normally a very positive and optomistic person despite a history of mild depression. I'm 50. I started peri-menopause at 37 and am not finished yet! One year ago my husband was transferred half way across the U.S. after living in the same place for 35 years. The cost of living is double here compared to where we came from. I came with an open mind and hoped for the best. The emotional roller coaster stuff was bad before, but now it's awful. I started antidepressants 4 years ago and that helped a lot with all my perimenopause symptoms before we moved. Since I've been here, my oldest child graduated from college and my youngest started college. My husband commutes so far that I only see him long enough to eat and say good night. I had a job which was very stressful, but I felt like I was good at it and I enjoyed it. Unfortunately, I lost the job and am having trouble finding another. I'm in counseling, which is helpful, but I'm running out of money. I'm also dealing with culture shock. The people are very different here. I can't seem to motivate myself to get out and get involved in anything. In the back of my mind I know I'm thinking that I'll just bide my time until we can move back. But I know that's not the answer. Please tell me I'll survive! Thanks for listening.

Hi Digirb- Just happened to get on the posts today and read yours. I haven't been on here too much lately. I guess I've been feeling better and don't feel like I need to get advise as much. But I do feel for you and your situation. Sounds like you're going through a lot of stuff all at the same time right now. That's very common but I know that when it's happening to you, you feel like you're all alone in the world and no one understands. But trust me, we do. Make sure that you log in to this board often. Daily if you have to, to get encouragement and advise. Pray too. That helps. I think that if you do this that little by little you will find your self adjusting to your new surroundings. Exercise alot. That has really helped me. Don't let your situation control you. You be in control of it. I've had to learn that too. Change is so hard but sometimes necessary. Anyway, we're cheering for you. YOU CAN GET THROUGH THIS.
