do breasts shrink after menopause?? - Menopause Message Board

Hi, I usually post on the thyroid board but thought this might be more appropriate here LOL! So here goes my embarrassing question.

I'm 56 and post menopausal for 10 years now. It was very uneventful except for a lot of bleeding towards the end.
Now here it is ten years later, I'm about five lbs heavier and I went from a 34D to a 34A. Can you have THAT DRAMATIC of a loss of breast tissue?? Most of the women in our family (though now deceased) were very busty, so I think there's something wrong. I have other issues that could be connected to this which is why I'm asking if it's in the norm or not.

I'm also postmenopausal but still having ups and downs. Just restarted hrt, but noticed when I quit it for a couple of months, my breasts became smaller. I have also read that this happens. I don't know if most women have a drastic reduction in size like you have described.

That's a scary thought! If I lose any breast tissue I'll be a 34nothing!

So colleen, You're the only one to notice a "slight" change in breast size?

I really think this is highly unusual myself. The problem is I've moved around a lot so I keep having different Drs. My Gyne now doesn't know what I used to look like so my complaints seem to be a bit ignored. My Endo is new also so there's no history with him. I can't very well say "don't you remember how big I was"?

I'm having a lot of other endocrine hormonal issues so I wonder if that's what might be the cause. Still hoping to hear from others.
