JCZgirl,
Taking hormones, whether in the form of birth control pills, or hormone replacement therapy, or "bio-identical" hormones, or progesterone cream, or whatever, is probably not a good idea for someone with a family history of cancer. I agree with your doctor on this.
Our hormones regulate a great many functions in the body, including our temperature controls. I had to laugh at visualizing you with a blanket over your legs and sweat pouring from your head. Perhaps you could start a new fashion trend -- ski pants and boots with a sleeveless tank top!

I invested in some thermal leggings to wear under my pants -- I wear these most of the year. And I bring thick padded slippers with me when I visit friends who are so "unkind" as to insist that I remove my shoes in their house. I appreciate that they don't want to have to clean their floors and rugs more often than necessary, but I need to keep my feet warm. So this way we're both happy.
You're not alone in having difficulties regulating your temperature.
