Back in August, I found out I had transitioned to post-menopausal but I am noticing some changes in my personality that I am wondering if they are related to this new phase of life.
This has been my first case of a really bad cold or flu since I found out. When I was peri-menopausal, I tended to just stay to myself and want to be left alone, not engaging in conversation more than the minimal responses whenever I felt sick.
This time around, I am what my husband calls cranky and irritable. I also have been getting short tempered and impatient over silly things like a page on the internet taking too long to load, the water in the kitchen sink not getting hot fast enough, and so on.
Is this normal or do I need to seek serious mental health attention?
Re: Cranky And Impatient When Sick - Post-Menopausal
Oh wow, that sounds just like me! I have been going thru many transitions through the meno phase and i am not on the 13th month of not having a period. It started when I was 45, irregular periods, then periods getting farther apart. During this time I had horrible hot flashes, anxiety, twitches, weight gain, mood swings, etc. Finally over a year ago, my periods stopped. But I am so irritable and crabby! I'm also eating a lot, nauseous and tired. sometiems im the opposite and wired! The only thing i can reccommend is estroven or something based on those premises. It is suppose to help with moods, and irritation.
Re: Cranky And Impatient When Sick - Post-Menopausal
Thanks, you two. My doctor had said I might have withdrawal symptoms but she really did not know what they might be.
She plans once she is sure that it is completely out of my system (I would have had to get another shot on November 10th if I were continuing them) that she wants to start me on natural progesterone.
Guess it is only a little over a month away, so people will just have to understand. I am only going to be a crotchety old lady for a little while longer hopefully.
At least I know I am not alone and that this is a typical thing.

Hi, Chantal . . . I am pretty sure she will do the cream since she knows I cannot swallow pills (my supplements have had to be powder I can mix in water and drops put in water to rinse with for other conditions).
I also have a sensitive stomach and could not take cod liver oil, so she is pretty much aware of what would bother me now.
She does not think I will have any heavy bleeding but if I do, I need to let her know.
