| Re: Stomach gurgles, diarrhea
Hi Chantal,
I have had this also and I found I was lactose intolerant (which I never was before). I had gurgling - very loud, and diarrhea. It was happening everyday shortly after lunch - and other times at night. It sounded like the type of stomach growling that you get when your hungry - but I had just eaten. At the time, one of the changes I made to my diet was to eat breakfast (which I never did before). I was eathing cereal with milk.
I am also not a milk drinker - this was the only milk I was taking in. After a while I thought this might be the cause - and I believe the night time growles was due to having ice cream after dinner.
I stopped the cereal and ice cream and have been fine ever since. I was also getting diarrhea when I was eating the dairy, and now it's mostly gone (except for the occasional bout).
I did hear that many adults become lactose intolerant - both women and men - so it may be more of an age issue - rather than menopause - or possible both. Mine started when I was about 47 - and I'm almost 51 now.
I did find that I can eat cheddar cheese and yogurt - there's something about the way they are processed that makes them OK - so I am still getting some calcium.
