This is my first post but it's about something that is bothering me so much. This last few years, I've been suffering with thick black hair around my chin - I swear if I didn't pluck them every day, I could grow a goatee.
Trouble is, although I joke about it with my daughter, and sister....it actually really makes me paranoid about anyone seeing them. So much so, that I dig for the hairs that I can feel even before I can see them, but they feel enormous though....consequently, though, my skin breaks and it looks an awful mess...but I just can't stop myself - as soon as they break through I have to get them out.
I've tried bleaching, but because they're so thick they show anyway, and I've tried hair removal creams....which remove all the fine fluffy hair, which makes the thick ones stand out even more.
I went to the doctor, and she took some blood tests, but all the receptionist said when I phoned for the results was that I was post menopausal (I'm nearly 49 by the way) and the doc just said there was nothing they could do.
I cannot afford laser treatment, or else I would be going for that.
Can anyone tell me what the cause could be please? It really is driving me mad.
Thanks very much for reading this
Welcome disaster1960, Oh how well I know this problem. I too have had thick black chin hair growth for a few years now. If I pluck them I try to do it in the car under natural light, as I seem to get most of them that way, but better then that, I wax my chin once a week. That has really helped, then pluck as needed during the week. Sorry I don't have a better answer for you, but do no that you are not alone. Take care,
Julie
