| Re: in menopause bleeding doesn't stop
hi kristin,
i can certainly relate to what you are going through, as i am experiencing the same symptoms (among many others that i have posted on various boards here). have you had a thorough work up by your doctor? pelvic exam, ultrasound, hormone tests, etc.? it definitely sounds like you are in perimenopause. i will be 43 in a few weeks, and i think i'm going through it, too. things started changing with my periods about three years ago, and they are only getting more intense. i have been bleeding for five weeks now, and it is getting heavier instead of lighter. i had my left ovary removed last october because of a benign cyst, and at the time i had a d&c to try to help my bleeding (which at the time was really really heavy, and my periods lasted about 14 days). since july i have experienced many many uncomfortable muscle and joint pains, nerve issues, and my periods have been whacked out. i have talked to my doctor about ablation, but i don't think that would take care of the hormonal issues, only the bleeding. i am going to see him this week and see what he says. i want to stop the bleeding, but at the same time, stabilize my hormones which are probably causing the breast tenderness, bloating, headaches, cramps, etc. anyway, you may want to see your gyn and ask about testing your hormones. ablation will help the bleeding, but our hormones cause the other symptoms. i'll post again after i see or talk to my doctor. i hope you are feeling better! lily
