perimenopause and weight gain

I just had a baby 11 months ago. But my weight has been steadliy ticking up each month since I had the baby. i think right now I weight as much if not more than during my last month of pregnancy. i have dieted, exercised and it still comes on. I am getting a little worried, should I see my gyn? My regualr doc did test my thyrpid 2 months ago and it was within the limits.

Could it be hormonal or the preimenopause cauing this??

Re: perimenopause and weight gain

Hi there! It depends on your age and if you are going through it. I am 44 and I am hypothyroid and in perimenopause. In the past 4 years I have put on 35 pounds. I have now taken off 12 since November. It is SO HARD!! I blame it on my age and my thyroid. Definately make sure your thyroid is working properly. But when I had my babies it took me a couple of years to get it off. Hang in there!

Re: perimenopause and weight gain

I did have a tubbal ligation, I am wondering if that could be the cause instead. I am going to call my gyn tommorow but she is so hard to get in to see.

Re: perimenopause and weight gain

Same thing is happening to me. Gained 40 - 50 lbs since 10/31/08. Baby is 7 months old. Estrogen level fell and my eyes & contacts really felt it. Also got wrinkles on the forehead over eyes from straining to see. Thyroid levels etc tested and all within normal middle of the road range. I think if I could get my estrogen back up naturally could loose weight and stop gaining. Weight gain is like 5 lbs every two weeks. Lost 50 lbs while pregnant. Baby still weighed 7.2. Please let me know if you have found anything to help
