Anyone with bad pap? - Menopause Message Board

After 22 years of good paps, I have one showing atypical cells. I am beside myself and of course, freaking out because I have terrible health anxiety. I also have atrophy but just started taking bioidentical hormones and feel so much better. Could this ever be attributed to menopause? I know it isn't realted to the hormones because this started 3 months ago. I now have to have a colposcopy and I'm very scared. Thank you for your replies.

Hi,

First take a deep breath and try not to worry. I know it's easier said than done.

Atypical squamous cells undetermined significance (ASCUS) is a common finding. 90-95 % is the result of some sort of infection.

Also since you have atrophy too that can cause inflammation and skew your results.
