I think I have been in perimenopause for several years. I am 45 years old. At 41, my periods were happenning all the time. Then back to normal sort of, less flow, and heavy cramping. Started taking prescription ibupfrofen (never had done that ever) to deal with the cramping. Well, this month, NO period, but 2 days, spaced a week apart, of serious cramping. The ibuprofen worked, but still no period. Anyone have this? Is this normal do you suppose?
I have some issues with cramping, also. The last couple of months, I have finished my period(I thought) but for the next week, or so, I would still have a discharge. Sometimes, pinkish, sometimes dark, old blood. Along with that, I typically have some cramping. My PA said that it isn't unusual to have the cramping because my body is still trying to push that old material out.
However, I am not spotting anymore, but am still having some cramping. So, I too, am curious about the cramping issue; is this just another fun little part of all of this??
I thought I was going to start last month....my last period was April 1 (April Fool's Day..lol)!
I had cramps for three weeks and the regular PMS weight gain, bloating, anxiety (times 10). After about three weeks, the cramping went away while the other symptoms have remained and stilll NO period. It's driving me NUTS!
I think this is what they call a "phantom period".
