I've never had real usual periods, heavy, long, and severe cramps, but in the last year they got better and now I'm 2 months out with out one. Is there any possible way I'm going through menopause at 45. I've been having hot flashes for 3 years, and other symptoms but I've just not heard of anyone at 45.
Thanks for any help,
I'm really freaking out, checkups have been fine,
Yes, this could be symptoms of perimenopause. I had a bout of 77 days without a period, then it's come 2 mo. in a row on time. This is why they call it the "change of life" The hormones are in fluctuation. Have your hormones checked by an endocrinologist if your PCP or Ob/Gyn won't do it. The hot flashes are a sign too of the hormones changing. HRT is an option if you're really going nuts. Some people don't start this until their 50's, but now with our toxic world our bodies are undergoing alot of stress. Young girls are starting their cycles earlier than we did. Investigate estrogen dominance, too. I have it and now I'm getting seizures because of it!!! I'd take a hot flash any day compared to what I have to deal with. This all started when I was 43!
Investigate your amino acid levels and minerals like magnesium. I found out I was low in magnesium and selenium and high in uranium. If you're a coffee drinker, coffee will decrease the magnesium in you. Be careful of low blood sugar too during these years. That could cause sugar cravings. Good luck and stay safe.
It is very possible at your age, and I would say most likely! I had an aunt who never had a period after the age of 38. A friend of mine is 43 and going through something similar to you. She has a period about every 4 months. Her doctor says peri. The average age of menopause is 52, so that means some women go through it a lot earlier than that, and some a lot later.
Yes it could be the start of menopause. The GYN can draw labs. Be sure and stress your concerns with your doctor. I have had problems since I was 32 !!! They never really listened to me, I got a new doctor just turned 43 and found out I was menopausal with osteopenia...probably from a lack of estrogen for all these years. Not peri but menopausal. Quite a shock !!
My periods stopped at the age of 45 for 11 months. Then I had a period, and that was the last one! (follow me?) I was 46 and I was in menopause. Never had a hot flash, no night sweat or anything so I was quite surprised.
My goofy Dr wouldn't even test my hormones but wanted to put me on HRT. I tried it for a few months and hated it. Now 14 yrs later I'm on BHRT and like it much more.
So yes it's possible to go through menopause earlier than the norm. Have you Dr test your FSH & LH and other hormones to see where you stand.
Good luck to you.
