Anybody have these symptoms? - Menopause Message Board

Two years ago, I had a hysterectomy. They took out all but 1 ovary. Since then, I've had night sweats (waking up soaked), chills, mood swings, low grade fever, and total fatigue. Could these all be symptoms of perimenopause? I also get feelings of being dizzy and disoriented/confused, and sometimes say things wrong. I've been checked for practically everything, including EBV, but so far, no answers? Also, even though my son is almost 8, I still get a small amount of milk in my breasts which causes them to swell up and get sore. I had a prolactin level run, but it was normal. Thyroid was normal. Any suggestions anyone?

Ask your doctor to have an ultrasound performed and that may answer some of your questions. There may be a problem with the remaining ovary. A cyst could cause these types of symtoms. I know, because that was my problem, and I had most of the same symtoms you describe. An ultrasound is painless and could reveal alot. My best to you.

Hi! You could be perimenopausal. As I recently found out, having only 1 ovary can cause you to go into menopause earlier than you normally would (so can having a tubal ligation, my dr. said). I have also suffered from ovarian cysts and like the previous poster said, that can cause these symptoms also. An ultrasound is a good idea if you've not had one already. Take care!

I had the same thing and they told me my thryoid was normal too. TSH 3.3. Since then I've done lots of homework on thryoid and it was NOT NORMAL for me. A lot of Dr.s don't listen to you about thyroid so I finally found a naturopath who treated me for thyroid and have got my TSH level down and I feel much much better now. Worth checking out. Thyroid can go wonky when going through menopause. A good site is Mary Shomans thyroid site on about.com.
