None of this makes any sense to me. We've been told so many different things that frankly I'm tired of it all. What are we supposed to do? For many women HRT is the only relief they have from the he** of menopause. It's not living when one has to be miserable with debillitating hot flashes, loss of sleep from night sweats and horrible mood swings that can make you feel like you're losing your mind!! I'm perimenopausal and on a low dose BCP. I feel great except for the week of my period. I truly believe I would not be coping so well if it weren't for the pill. As to what I'm going to do when I finally become menopausal, I don't know. Yes, the NIH study is alarming. BUT, how many of the women diagnosed with heart disease or breast cancer would have been diagnosed with it anyway whether they were on HRT or not. I'm sure we've not heard the last of this debate.
