Prempro HRT - Menopause Message Board

Do anybody know what hormone therapy products are available like Premarin or Prempro if they are unsafe or we are concerned about using with all this weeks news about them and HRT. I read some things in the newspapers that worry me about side effects like cancer and stoke from HRT. I did see some of the statictics listed by lawyers on [url="http://www.PremproHormoneReplacementTherapy.com "]www.PremproHormoneReplacementTherapy.com[/url] that make me think about using something else. Anybody else know about another safer alternative?

i know that what we have been hearing as far as the dangers of prempro are true..a friend took it for about one year and was then diagnosed with breast cancer...if you are worried about osteoperosis..check out fosamax,actonel, or evista..ofcourse they all have their own list of side effects ..so its a matter of selecting the one you think will work best for you..as for night sweats and hot flashes..i have them very mildly occassionally..so ive not had to look for a remedy for them..

Harvard M.D. Andrew Weil was on Larry King last night.
He said to take Black Cohosh and REMEFEMIN.I've seen both at Walmart and will buy the REM (though I think I bought it once and it didn't help).
He did say Prempro was bad news except for short term after ovary removal. I've taken Premarin for 18 years; mom took it for at least that long.

i think we all need to get away from the idea that menopause is a disease..it is not...so therefore it is not always necessary to treat it with medicatioins..if we have bone loss as i do then treat the osteopenia or osteoperosis with fosamax,actonel, or evista....if its hot flashes or night sweats..while annoying im sure..we may want to try and tough it out without and meds...hrt seem to do more harm than good...if i had a choice been hot flashes and a mastectomy...its hot flashes for me all the way..hrt increases a womans risk of breast cancer

Dr. Nancy Snyderman on GMA said Thursday that Soy is good to take for hot flashes and sleeplessness associated with menopause. I started taking Soy about 1 1/2 years ago after my chiropractor recommended it and it definitely worked for me. I then added the Black Cohash after a lot of research and talking to my doctor. I now stand "symptom free" and it's so great to actually sleep again and not wake up sweating, too. Menopause can also aggravate arthritis and since I have RA (under control for now), I haven't had to deal with added discomfort.
