intro/how quick does menopause come on - Menopause Message Board

Endo has been in my life for over 13 years. No gyn was willing to diagnose me until 1999, when the pain and adhesions were in stage four and I could hardly walk from the complications.
I just had a total hysterectomy at 32.....with both ovaries and tubes removed as well as lysis of adhesions from my past three laps. Although childless, I might actually be more relieved then sad, due to the (hopeful relief) of pain, pulling, tearing, and bleeding.

I had my one week post-op check up. It was discovered I also had adenomyosis and leftover endo inside me.
My gyn told me that if I stay off estrogen for about six months, the endo that is left in my body will "scar away", so that I can start on a low dose of ert.

I have done a lot of research on endo and am shocked that the endo , even miniscule pieces, will ever scar away>..

However, how long can an overweight woman usually go without ert and not be in menopause???

HI - and you poor thing! I am 38, and have had so many minor things / surgeries...scraped, removed, drained, I know how you feel!

To be quite honest, I don't know if your being "overweight" has something to do with when you'll need HRT, ya know? Have you done any research on it?

My bloodwork shows that I am in sittin somewhere between perimenopause and the real deal. However, I have not had one darn symptom of it! So - it snuck up on me. My pap smear came back abnormal the last time, so that is when I asked my GYN to do the test. I was just curious. Sure enuff! Bingo! I am now on Activella, a low dose HRT. No problems or side effects.

I have read lots of times that those blood tests - testosterone levels - are not always an accurate assesment of whether or not you are in menopause. A lot of women just have to plea their cases when the strange symptoms start happening...most GYN's will let you do a trial dose of HRT and see if it helps you.

Take your health into your own hands...that is all the advice I have to offer, and it seems you've done that already!
