I'm 45 years old and believe I've been in perimenopause for the past 4 years althou blood tests showed I'm not. I've had a few 'hot flashes'... during sleep, once when I was in the supermarket (and if it wasn't so crowded I would have stripped my clothes off and jumped in the ice cream freezer!) and a few times during the day (driving, watching tv). This past summer, however, I've noticed that whenever I get overheated from working outside (gardening, playing with my dog) my face gets EXTREMELY RED, flushed, hot to touch. My upper chest and back also seem to get patches of red. I've also noticed that I 'glisten' or to put it bluntly, sweat a lot more. Are these also hot flashes?? When I put cool water on my face or jump in a cool shower, my face tingles and the redness lasts for about 1/2 hour.
Another question... because my doctor looks at me with a blank look on his face when I ask him or tells me "its all in my head" and the gyn office I use seem more interested in their pregnant patients.... I sometimes feels as if I am going to jump right out of my skin, edgy, anxious. Would anxiety med help? Does it make you tired?? I don't take med well (cold meds make me crazy

) Do you take it as needed or do you have to take it continuously?
Any help would be soooo appreciated.
